Add a business minor to your degree
If you are working on another undergraduate degree at the University of Colorado Denver, and want a minor in business administration, you need a 2.0 GPA to enter the program as a business minor. You must also have a 2.0 GPA overall, and a 2.0 GPA in your business courses at the time of graduation to receive a minor in business.
The prerequisites to the Business minor
- Introduction to business problem solving, ISMG2050
- Algebra for social science and business, MATH1070*
- Polynomial Calculus, MATH1080
- Business statistics, DCSI2010**
- Principals of economics: Macroeconomics, ECON2012
- Principals of economics: Microeconomics, ECON2022
* or a higher-level Math course
** or a statistics course approved by the Business School. This course requires a prerequisite of MATH1070 or MATH1110 and MATH 1080 or MATH1401.
Required courses for a business minor are:
- Introduction to business, MGMT1000
- Managerial accounting and professional issues, ACCT2200
- Legal and ethical environments of business I, BLAW3000
- Principals of marketing, MKTG3000
- Principals of finance I, FNCE3000
- Managing individuals and teams, MGMT3000
Notes
- Twelve of these 18 hours must be taken while in residence at the UC Denver Downtown Campus.
- If the student has already taken the equivalent of one or more of these courses, other higher-level business courses may be substituted with Business School approval.
- Up to 6 hours of the 18 required business courses may be taken at another institution.
- Transfer credit will be granted on the same basis that transfer credit is granted for courses taken by business majors.
* Note: Students enrolling for DCSI2010 must have completed MATH1070 OR MATH1110 or equivalent courses and MATH1080.
