My education at the UC Denver Business School has opened up many doors that had not previously been available in my career. It has done so by providing a broad-based, but thorough understanding of many areas of the financial world. It has also provided an ongoing resource that I feel I can use not only now, but throughout my career. As an older student, I am grateful for the opportunity to both expand my knowledge of the business world and to prove to both my family and potential employers that I can accomplish a deep understanding of new and complex material. In essence, my MS in finance degree has created a new jumping-off point for my career at a time when most people are accepting that their careers will simply be the same until they retire.

Finance jobs are available in many companies

Finance majors are often fascinated by the quantitative side of business and like to do the research and analysis needed to make effective financial decisions.

You may find you are effective at organizing, analyzing, and interpreting numerical data. In finance you will develop the knowledge of financial practices and trends, the ability to explain complex financial transactions and data to others, and the aptitude to make sound judgments and decisions.

Finance majors tend to be willing to take risks, deal with change readily, and take on leadership roles.

Employment opportunities focused on finance are found in real estate, insurance, investment banking, financial planning, and retail and commercial banking. Since most businesses have finance departments, corporate finance is another common job area. Federal, state and local government agencies also offer a wide range of opportunities.
