Supporting Information Systems

CITI members support Information Systems at the UC Denver Business School in a myriad of ways. CITI participates in community outreach, consulting, curriculum participation, and by offering internships, externships and finally recruiting.

Community Outreach

At the high school level

CITI encourages students to pursue careers in IT. CITI completed the Columbine High School technology upgrade program.

At the College level

CITI and the ISA Club present an annual Become a Business Leader with the Edge panel event. CITI C-Level Executives from some of Denver’s most successful companies make themselves available to students during this event which is is promoted to the entire university and supports both the presenting businesses and the Information Systems discipline by getting information to the student population.

Consultative Projects

Multi-disciplinary teams of faculty and graduate students undertake projects that address critical business needs at member companies.

Curriculum Participation

Member companies participate in the classroom by providing experts to speak about their real-world experience. Members also support new degree programs.
  • Degree programs supported by CITI include the online undergraduate information systems and computer science program (expansion and integration of IT education), and the PhD program in computer science and information systems.
  • The Accounting and Information systems faculty approved a new track on “Accounting and Information Systems Audit and Control” Track as part of both MS in Accounting and Information Systems Effective Summer 2005, based on CITI member input.
  • The undergraduate program faculty has approved development of “dual emphasis” at the undergraduate level. These dual emphasis offerings are offered in addition to the regular emphasis offerings of Accounting, Financial Management, Information Systems, International Business, Management, and Marketing. So far such dual emphases have been developed and/or approved between IS and accounting, IS and Marketing, IS and Management, and IS and Finance. Again per CITI member input.

Internships, externships and recruiting

CITI member companies have special access to students through private career fairs and recruiting support. The strong relationship between the university and industry encourages the placement of student interns and faculty externs.
