A Toast and a Roast to JC Bosch
At the end of the fall 2008 semester, Jean-Claude Bosch stepped down as Executive Associate Dean of the Business School after more than 20 years in that and similar positions. This spring, at a staff and faculty meeting, the school honored him by presenting him with a chair engraved with the University of Colorado seal and his name.
Various speakers, tongues planted firmly in cheeks, "nominated" and "elected" him to be the first recipient of the "Freedom Fries Chair in French-American Relations," which was "formally" presented to the strains of La Marseillaise (in the Berlioz festival arrangement).
During the "nomination" process, Peter Bryant illustrated the school's adoration for JC as well as JC's modesty when he declared with great theatrical aplomb and a twinkle in his eye, "...Our choice is clear... Our nominee for this unique position reflects... a universal consensus. He will object, out of modesty, or perhaps out of ignorance of our respect and affection for him, which, of course, we wouldn't show while he was in office."
Over more than two decades, Bosch has served the Business School as program director, Associate Dean for Programs, Associate Dean for Faculty and Budget, Acting Dean, and Executive Associate Dean. He is currently Associate Dean for Operations. A Professor of Finance, he has served on a wide variety of campus and system-wide committees and task forces.
